Golden Retriever Service Dog
Iris is a lovely female golden retriever who is from exceptional lines. Her parents are both champions, with her father being a top ranked and top winning show dog with multiple Best in Specialty Show awards. Her parents are both fully health tested, and her pedigree has a lot of dogs with higher than average longevity for the breed, which is something we look for in our Golden Retriever service dog prospects. This pedigree gives her all the best genetics to have a long working career, with a body structure that holds up to a busy life.
Iris is very social and affectionate, and loves both her family and strangers. She is also highly social with dogs, cats, and other animals, and has been exposed to horses. Iris is pretty relaxed in the house when hanging out, but is happy to play a quick game of fetch in the yard anytime you are up for it. She loves her task work, and enjoys greatly having a job where she helps her handler in their everyday life. She is fully on and off leash obedience trained, and her public access work is finished, including a variety of environments including: stores, restaurants, doctor’s offices, movie theaters, horse stables, and airports. She travels very well, and has traveled all around the country in her time in training. She has been raised by a professional trainer since 8 weeks old, we do not farm our dogs off to “puppy raisers”.

- Under (tuck under chair or table in public)
- Middle (go in between your legs)
- Out (drop toy)
- Kennel
- Load (get into car)
- Hugs (DPT deep pressure therapy cue)
- Orbit (circling/crowd control)
- Behind (sit behind handler to get space in line, for example at check out at store)
- Bring (retrieve an item)
Iris has also been trained for “work” which is not on cue or command but she will offer, including crying interruption, anxiety interruption, nightmare interruption, and her work can be customized to suit her particular handler’s behavior and what triggers we want her to act off of.
Iris is spayed, up to date on vaccines and preventative care, and has been fed a quality nutrition her entire life to ensure correct growth and development. She is just about a year old, so she is ready for a long working career. Iris is ready to go home as soon as the first week in August. Her price includes all of her training and working supplies, toys and treats that are safe and approved, a month’s worth of her dog food, and her service dog vest. Iris’s price also includes extensive handler training to make sure all of her tasks and skills transfer over seamlessly to her new forever person.
Iris is priced at $16,500, which includes 3 days of transfer sessions in central Kentucky. Delivery is also possible for an additional fee.
